New flooring

Well, after a turbulent month things are starting to get back to some semblance of normality. Drexel Interiors came out Thursday and Friday and put down my new basement flooring. We decided to go with an inexpensive vinyl flooring instead of doing the laminate hardwood again. We got something that can withstand a little water on it without ruining it, just in case. It has a wood pattern and looks fairly similar to the old flooring.

After letting it set for a couple days we went down Sunday and put everything back to it's original place. The only thing that's not the same is the fireplace surround. The base had gotten ruined (particle board soaks up water -> mold) so I ripped it off. I'll build a new one some day. Right now it's just sitting on the floor without the base.

I took a few pictures this morning. Here they are.

  • did you get any water damage on your walls? :-(

  • The walls were all good, I guess we got the water off fast enough (not fast enough to save the floors though).

The only wood damage was to the base of our electric fireplace surround. It was all particle board and absorbed the water very fast and got mold on it. I ripped that all off and will build a new base for it at some point.

The new floor is from Armstrong. It's a sheet vinyl, called Station Square (color is called Old Country).

    Thanks

  • Hi. I don't know if you still check this blog, but I was wondering where you got your poker table? My husband would love it for his pub style basement we will have soon. Thanks!

  • Installing an new floor can spice up a tired room and you can even save some money by installing it yourself.Vinyl floors are durable and they are affordable. All of these guidelines need to be followed perfectly for the whole process to go quickly and smoothly.

  • I have a typical cement walled basement and I need to figure out what to do with this basement. How can I cover the cemented walls and make it look like home? I need this basement to function as another bedroom.
